A warm welcome from our TEAM
Appleton Wiske Community Primary School is a small rural school in a village setting with a caring and inclusive ethos. We focus on the needs of each individual child and as a team of professionals work together to meet those needs in an exciting and well-resourced learning environment.
Our close collaboration with a range of neighbouring settings and skilled professionals ensures seamless care with adults who have a wealth of knowledge and understanding of children and their development and learning. This reflects our school vision of TEAM.
In our recent Ofsted inspection, the school was judged to be GOOD and as one Year 6 pupil described our school:-
Spring term brought lots of adventurous activities in school. The Year Fives went to Robinwood and had an amazing three days. The children were a pleasure to take away and their behaviour was a credit to the school. Our sporting achievements included winning the Swimming Gala and success in the Cross Country Running, Sports Hall Athletics and Key Steps Gymnastics. We also enjoyed competing in the Hockey and Netball. Class One have been going to the forest every Wednesday and Class Two and Three enjoyed a visit to the Dorman Museum. The children also took part in World Book Day and Sports Relief activities. Our school hosted an Early Years Moderation meeting for the Swaledale Alliance when teachers from schools across the area enjoyed visiting Class One and our staff were able to share their outstanding practice. We also hosted a two day puppet workshop, with David Watterson, for all the Reception children in our cluster. We are looking forward to our summer term events which start with our Maypole Dancing and Strawberry Teas. We hope to see you there!
